  1. We, too, have a paradise of a back yard. Muchas plantas tropicales. Stripped cedar post rail around the deck, stripped cedar post pergola, mature oak trees, stone patios and a plot of green space.

  2. I love to do yard work, it’s therapeutic, and great exercise. Took advantage of our first non-storm week here. Planting hot peppers, (a very pretty red) and they don’t require a lot of maintenance. Wish I could grow bouganvilleas here, beautiful backdrop in your picture.

    1. Andean: You don’t really get a sense of the size of that bougainvillea in the background. It’s a monster. I’m guessing about 18-20 feet high, probably 30 feet wide. Bougainvilleas are a mixed blessing when they are happy. They grow like crazy, and they have claws. Boy, do they ever have claws.

      1. My sister has many huge bougainvilleas, in many different colors, on her property in Mexico. They are beautiful. But they do have to be tamed from time to time, like… never mind.

    1. Connie: “Don’t allow.” Al contrario. I have no rules here aside from being polite. It just makes more sense to stick to English because the majority of people who pass by here live in the U.S., and one must assume they don’t speak Spanish. Quite a number of blogs of Gringos living in Mexico throw in Spanish words here, there, everywhere. If a reader does not speak Spanish, it just creates confusion. So, there you have it. No hay ningun problemo con tranquilo en este caso porque es la pura verdad.
