Nearby communists

I’M NOT A FAN of communists and yet here they are just down the road.

Mexico has a number of political parties, and what you see displayed here is the Workers Party, a phrase that invariably refers to communists. They lack subtlety. The yellow star on the red background is a dead giveaway. It’s an emblem you might have seen on Mao’s Long March or on Ché Guevara’s beret.

As Winston Churchill said: Socialism is the philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance and the gospel of envy. The good news is that our commies have never come close to a big election win in Mexico. Pray that it stays so.

  1. Perhaps this is a branch of the Soros Open Society Foundation. In the end Communism, Progressivism, etc., are all the same thing. The hoi polloi ceding control of their lives to so-called elites who will give them a free lunch in return for their loss of independence. Usually this is a bad deal, but the outcomes can vary from decreased prosperity such as we see in Western Europe to the killing fields in Cambodia and the U.S.S.R.

    1. Wesmouch: And let us not forget Mao’s China. Between Stalin and Mao, they murdered far more innocent people than Hitler ever did. Yet, it’s fashionable to sport the Red Star on clothing. The swastika? No way, José.

  2. I was never afraid of communism as my childhood was not filled with fears of the Soviet Union. The Berlin Wall came down when I was in my early twenties. I am enjoying, though, watching The Americans. I get it through Amazon Prime, which I think is superior to Netflix. I don’t know if you can access it. I could not when I lived in Central America. In this TV series, KGB spies are working undercover in the nation’s capital in the late ’70s and early ’80s. Ronald Reagan is the president, and the U.S. is very concerned about the Soviet threat. I like the paranoia and darkness of the Russian characters.

  3. Somewhere, nearby, someone’s penning a blog post in Spanish about pinche gringo imperialistas invading the neighborhood. Hopefully they’re as peaceable and succinct as you are.

    Saludos, comrade!

Where we have near single-party rule, and our governor is a RINO. No communists, though.
