“I’ve learned my lesson”

I moved to Mexico from Texas 21 years ago. I had lived in Houston 15 years. I loved it. My then-wife and I occasionally visited Austin, which was a spectacular place.

Seems that it’s changed a bit.

Austin, a university town, is a bastion of leftism in an otherwise sensible state, and it’s done what cities run by leftists invariably do, shot itself in the foot, to put it mildly.

This video shows Austin now, a mess.

Austin made it legal to create hobo camps, and it voted to defund the police. Guess what happened next? My favorite line in the video is from that woman who says at the 1:12-minute point: “I’m a Democrat, but I’ve learned my lesson.”

I learned my lesson in 2008, which is when I abandoned the Democrat Party and the chaos it’s creating all over my former nation. Have you learned your lesson yet?

  1. Lived in Austin and the immediate area for about 15 years in another century. Have family connections to central Texas back several generations. One of the huge factors in the current “homeless” situation is the large number of folks with serious mental problems living on the streets with little to no support. This traces back to the late ’70s where the “least restrictive environment” concept got a foothold and has been allowed to enter a new universe of no restriction on behavior.

It was a different time and place a few decades ago. Amazing that it appears to only get worse.

    1. Ricardo: Yes, the fact that the mentally ill are loose on the streets is a major factor in these things. I too remember the change in approach back in the 1970s. It has been a disaster. That change was also driven by Democrats. It is amazing to me that otherwise normal people still vote for the Democrat Party in light of how it runs such places like Austin, Portland, Chicago, New York, Oakland, Detroit, etc. Boggles the mind. Take it to the bank that the woman in the video who has “learned her lesson” voted for Biden last November.

  2. It’s sad what has happened to Austin. My son graduated from the University of Texas back in 2012. Now the homeless are on and right next to campus and students have been attacked by homeless people.
