Alternatives to collectivism

COLLECTIVISTS BEAT conservatives handily in two areas: profanity and propaganda.

charityThat leftists curse like sailors was beautifully illustrated in the last presidential campaign. I addressed the issue then with a post titled What the (bleep)?! which links to a couple of NDP (New Democratic Party) television spots starring foul-mouthed celebrities who love Barry.

It is unthinkable that the Republicans would have countenanced something similar for Mitt Romney.

We are nice, polite people.

Collectivists also beat the pants off conservatives with propaganda. Collectivists have effectively pounded into the noggins of low-information voters (who are legion) that conservatives don’t care about poor people, that we want to end Social Security and Medicare which is, of course, arrant nonsense.

Conservatives want to modernize Social Security, for instance, bring it into the 21st century and make it more financially viable for the long haul. Right now, it is not, of course. And Medicare, which has served many people well, including my mother, needs reform too. Losses to fraud are scandalously massive.

Conservatives advocate improving that type of social program. The NDP says otherwise, and that’s baloney.

Let’s look at poor people. The NDP would have you think conservatives want poor people to starve in the streets. This too is malarky. Conservatives simply favor private-sector charities to government. Given the well-documented fraud and waste in Medicare, the conservative preference for private charities makes sense.

Conservatives are not fond of government coercion, and you should not be fond of it either.

That welfare programs, run by government, are spectacularly abused is no secret — unless you get your information from HuffPost, the Nation and MSNBC. Conservatives want assistance, preferably via the private sector, to go to those in need only. That, almost exclusively, means old people, the chronically ill and the handicapped. People who truly cannot help themselves. Private charities do this more efficiently.

Private charities do not put ne’er-do-wells on the public tit.

There are many privately run charitable organizations that touch the needy around the world. Here are two:

1. Kiva. This provides micro-loans. I was a contributor for a few years, withdrew to participate in another organization, but I have recently returned to Kiva. It does great work. My new team (Team Mexicano) could use some more members. You just need $25, for Pete’s sake. Join us.

2. Heifer International. This outfit provides worldwide help to the poor in a very novel way. Check it out. I recently discovered this group via a link on my ex-wife’s Facebook page. Gracias, Julie.

The opportunities to share the wealth (a collectivist goal) are countless, but it’s best to do it without being coerced, and it’s best to do it efficiently, with the truly needy getting the help, not folks like the Surfer Dude.

Conservatives aid the poor intelligently. And they don’t cuss up a storm while they’re at it.

Don’t be fooled by NDP propaganda. Be smart.

The collectivists’ vastly superior talent at propaganda is beautifully illustrated by their use of the word “immigrant.” They do not use the phrase illegal alien, of course, nor even illegal immigrant if they can weasel out of it. They love to say conservatives “hate immigrants.”

Of course, this is bogus. All but the most extreme xenophobes, who are no more numerous on the right than Bolsheviks on the left, have no problem with immigrants. It is lawlessness that we oppose. Illegal aliens, not law-abiding immigrants. Conservatives do not “hate immigrants.”

The awakening

It's morning in America.
It’s morning in America.

“THE OBAMA ERA is over.” So opined one of the collectivist mouthpieces Tuesday night on the basement-rated Bolshevik television network called MSNBC.

I was somewhat surprised at the election results. I was not as optimistic as many on our — the clearer thinking — side of the political spectrum. I mean, after Barry was re-elected against all common sense in 2012, who would have thought the American voter would come to his senses? Not me.

Here’s my prediction for the two years left in Barry’s term: The Republicans will try to legislatively set the national ship back on a straight course … and Barry will veto it, repeatedly. Simultaneously, Barry (wonderfully dubbed “The Precious” by a wag on Breitbart News) will attempt to further his left-wing dreams by edict.

International visits to other nations by the president will mostly end.* What would be the point? There will be an exception to this. Queen Michelle and the little princesses will continue taxpayer-funded vacations.

And the Queen will still accept all invites to fawning talk shows and celebrity parties. However, I imagine those invitations will be coming far less often than before, don’t you?

Upshots: Hillary (Barry in panties) now has the proverbial ice cube’s chance in Hell of being the next president. The NDP* has some serious and rapid thinking to do.

This morning, Ben Carson, an actual black dude, officially changed his party affiliation from Independent to Republican. Obviously, he has a presidential campaign in mind. I hope so.

Carson quote: “I believe in reasonable sized government. I believe in personal responsibility. I believe in individual freedom. And I believe in creating an environment to let free markets grow our economy. And all of that is very consistent with being a Republican.”  Amen, brother.

I like Carson, but there will be other contenders to replace The Precious. Time will tell. For now, let us celebrate.

Oh yes, almost forgot, Mia Love will become the first black Republican woman in the House of Representatives. You see, contrary to what the NDP endlessly drills into your noggins, Republicans have nothing against blacks. We just prefer the sharp ones, those who are not race-baiters like Al Sharpton and Pastor Jeremiah Wright.**

* Barry is off to Burma next week, a trip scheduled before the midterms. Pray that he stays.

* * The New Democratic Party, which has little in common with Harry Truman’s Democratic Party.

American Looney Tunes

ducksLET’S KICK OFF 2014 with a look at nuttiness in the United States. The well is deep, wide and murky, full of salamanders and creepy-crawleys.

First, there’s a reality show — wildly popular, I hear — called Duck Dynasty. It’s about a family of rednecks in Louisiana, my old state. The guys have long beards and often look like they need to wash their faces.

But that’s so the ducks won’t see them, one supposes. These guys shoot ducks. Now while they look like a band of yahoos, they also are millionaires. Sharp rednecks.

Christians too, they claim. Recently, one of these bearded guys, an older one, said unkind things about gay folks. I believe bestiality was uttered in the same sentence. Ouch!

The elitist, collectivist media went nuts, plus some gay group that you’re required to listen to. The old redneck was fired from the show, but then he was hired again. Remember these guys are millionaires, and money talks. Plus, the show is wildly popular.

More popular than the “gay community,” it seems.

I know gay guys, and I have known folks like these duck hunters. There are good and bad people in both camps. But in this dust-up, I’m on the side of the duck hunters because I believe one must be allowed to speak one’s opinion if it’s done without cussin’.

Diversity rules!

crackersA sideshow to the above conflict debuted when the restaurant chain called Cracker Barrel pulled Duck Dynasty gear off their shelves.

That was really dumb.

Cracker Barrel’s customer base is precisely the kind of folks who would share the values of the duck hunters. So what the restaurant chain did was — totally on its own; nobody had protested — take a shotgun off the wall, slide in a shell, and shoot itself in the foot. And pen a press release so we’d know.

Kinda funny, actually. And pathetic at the same time.

Why did they drag themselves into this conflict? It is a lovely illustration of how the political correctness legions have bludgeoned everyone into believing any group labeled “a minority” must be genuflected to without hesitation.

Cracker Barrel believed it was launching a preemptive strike, protecting itself. But it had to sew its foot back on and issue an apology. I loved that.

PagliaMy favorite lesbian in this world is Camille Paglia who has recently been getting fresh exposure.

Camille is an anomaly, a Democrat who makes sense, one who not only does not parrot the politically correct line, but opposes it.

Paglia makes a great argument for the fact that radical feminism is destroying America by turning its men into pantywaists and wusses.

Link 2, Salon, the pinko website.

Oddly, Paglia voted for Obama, leaving me puzzled. She’s not perfect.

sheepWhile the collectivists went bonkers over the duck guy’s unkind remarks about homosexuality, they did not hesitate a moment to mock Mitt Romney’s black grandchild whom they called a “black sheep.”

Sure, the collectivist neighborhoods idolize black folks, put them on pedestals, but only if they are in families that vote Democrat.

If you missed it, go here. The low-rated MSNBC, of course. Bad people.

The folks in question, primarily the show’s silly host, Melissa Harris-Perry, attempted to apologize later, but good folks will reject that bogus apology.

Isn’t Harris-Perry the same woman who said Santa Claus should be a penguin? So not to offend black people? I could be wrong on that, but somebody said it.

slaveryNew York City’s new mayor, the collectivist Bill De Blasio, was sworn in yesterday, a move the city will live to regret. Think Detroit.

De Blasio voluntarily honeymooned in the communist dictatorship of Cuba. The whole world out there, and he honeymoons in Cuba.

A black pastor, Fred Lucas, whom De Blasio picked to deliver the obligatory spiritual words chose slavery as his theme. He repeated words like plantation, repression, emancipation, captives, bondage, shackles and masters, ad nauseam.

Time to move on, pastor. Think Oprah and Obama.

Then he asked to be freed “from political correctness.” (Put howling laugh track here.)

The tone of the event is illustrated beautifully by a fellow standing behind Lucas, sporting an African-style beanie as if he’s at a coronation in Benin or Botswana.

Multiculturalism. Ain’t it grand?

American nuttiness knows no limits these days. It’s great to live in Mexico.

Stuff and such …

m a big fan of Fox News, and proud of it. Not only is it Fair and Balanced (more on that later), but it sends collectivists into paroxysms of rage, and that’s always a hoot to watch.

A cable network that actually is unbalanced, in more ways than one, is MSNBC, home to race-baiter Al Sharpton, smug and dykey Rachel Maddow and others of their ilk.

The nonpartisan Pew Research Center just came out with this: MSNBC is almost pure left-wing propaganda. Pew did not phrase it precisely like that, but that’s what it amounts to.

On the flip side, Pew states that Fox’s coverage is about 55 percent opinion and 45 percent factual reporting. CNN is almost exactly the same as Fox.

Of course, CNN’s opinion is lefty, and Fox’s is righty. We all know that.

It amazes me that people take Al Sharpton seriously. It’s like paying real attention to David Duke or Louis Farrakhan.

We have a new Pope. He looks like a nicer guy than that Benedict character (a flinty-eyed German whom my child bride and I always referred to as “the Nazi”) and the Argentines are delirious with joy.

The new Pope — Francis is his name, which is kind of dorky — wants us to treat the downtrodden nicely. It’s good to have a fresh message  from the Vatican.

No matter. I support organized religion. Most of us need it.
