The abortion thing

Health care? No. Abortion? Yes.

LET’S TALK about abortion.

I’m a fence-straddler on this contentious topic. Not being a Christian, I have no religious issue with it. Like many people, abortion has been a part of my life.

My first wife got pregnant unexpectedly. It was before we married. We were young and shocked. Rather quickly she found an abortion doctor. This was before Roe versus Wade.

It was illegal.

I, however, was troubled and nixed it.

We married, and my life sailed in a direction it would have not sailed otherwise. I still feel the effects.

An unexpected pregnancy for young people is like a 10-ton boulder rolling down the mountain straight at you.

You can dodge it with an abortion. Or you can stand still, wide-eyed, and see what happens.

I support abortion rights when done early, and the fetus is just a nub. Where it gets troubling is when it’s done later and the fetus is a formed child.

Early, yes. Late, no. If you drag your feet making a decision, tough luck. Be decisive.

There’s lots of hubbub about Planned Parenthood, which is an abortion provider, and nothing more. Its supporters say it’s about women’s health. That’s baloney.

A reporter recently phoned Planned Parenthood facilities in various states to ask what prenatal services were provided. The answers were all the same. No prenatal services offered.

Planned Parenthood is an abortion mill, period. And given the strong emotions on the subject in many quarters, it should not be receiving taxpayer money.

Let the customers pay.

If you get pregnant unexpectedly, decide what you want to do with no dilly-dallying, and make an appointment with a doctor who provides the service. It’s legal.

Don’t wait five months and do it. It’s grisly.

Numerous undercover investigations have been done into Planned Parenthood, and what’s been discovered is quite disturbing. You’ll never see these reports in the socialist media like Huffpost, Mother Jones and The New York Times.

Abortion should stay legal for early stage. Illegal in the late stage.* To outlaw it altogether will just return us to the days of blood-soaked butchery in back alleys.

Outlawing all abortions is like outlawing drug use. It just creates worse problems. Use common sense.

* Being an anti-government guy, I find even this troubling.

(Note: Later in my first marriage, we had another child, another accident. Ian Lee was born prematurely and with two club feet. He died three days later. After that, I got a vasectomy. I was 24 and out of the procreation game. My daughter recently turned 51 and lives in Athens, Georgia, with her husband. She is thick as thieves with her mother and has little to do with me. Irony.)

Getting it right

OLE FELIPE is a conservative of the non-church variety, primarily a libertarian.

When I vote in U.S. elections (from afar), I vote Republican not because I much care for the Republican Party. I decidedly do not. They get too hung up on religious matters when other issues are far more pressing. No, I vote GOP because it’s the not-Democrat party, the only viable alternative.

Most of my life, I voted Democrat, so I am a recovering lefty. No, that’s incorrect. I am fully recovered.

It’s trendy in some circles to say there’s not much difference between the GOP and Democrats these days. This is silly. If you think the United States would be the same today had McCain won in 2008 or Romney in 2012 as the America over which Barry runs riot, you are quite in error.

Polarization is at a fever pitch. If get your news (and most Americans don’t get news from anywhere) from The New York Times, HuffPost, Slate, Mother Jones, NPR, etc., you have one viewpoint, a wrong one, in my opinion.

If, however, you get your news from the same places I get mine, you will be well informed.

As a public service, here they are:

1. The Washington Times.

2. Breitbart (my personal favorite).

3. Fox online (not as good as the most-watched TV news network).

4. Truth Revolt (Ben Shapiro, one sharp, young Jew).

5. Townhall.

6. Free Beacon.

7. The Federalist.

8. Independent Journal Review.

9. The Daily Caller.

10. The Blaze.

Due to the nonsense emanating from Barry’s White House, plus the shameless collectivist cheerleading done by the corrupt, mainstream media, new conservative news sources are popping up all over, a great thing.

Remember: The best government is the government that leaves you alone most of the time.

Mohammedans and machine guns

Charlie

COWARDLY NEWS OUTLETS like the collectivist New York Times won’t publish this cover from Charlie Hebdo, but The (Intrepid) Unseen Moon — from the safety of a mountaintop in the middle of Mexico, a country where the Mohammedan population is happily about 0.01 percent — knows no fear.

The crime here is that Mohammedans say you cannot depict Mohammed at all, or you’ll have your head chopped off. Something like that. It’s a really loving religion. I urge you to pass this cartoon along.

Moving on now to a second, and perhaps related, issue: guns. Due to some tragic shootings in the United States in recent years committed by lunatics, the collectivists have been screaming and fainting from the vapors because they cannot get the U.S. Constitution’s Second Amendment canceled.

As if that would help. There are already guns everywhere. The horse is out of the barn. The collectivists would also like to rescind the First Amendment, but that another issue.

EastwoodThis has created a backlash among traditional Americans, who make up the majority of the citizenry. Collectivists collect on the coasts where they sip white wine in the east and make movies in the west. And they elect dummkopfs like Bill de Blasio in the east and Jerry Brown in the west.

Normal people are flocking to gun stores and arming themselves. This is, in part, due to the collectivist attack on the Constitution. It may also be due to bloodthirsty Mohammedans moving into the neighborhood.

Imagine my broad smile the other day on finding this online. It’s a new firing range in Orlando, Florida, called Machine Gun America. It made my day.

For those of you who want a ranking of machine guns, go here, brought to you by the Washington Free Beacon, a very good news source. In spite of what Leftists would have you think, it’s almost impossible to legally own a fully automatic rifle, but if you go to Machine Gun America, you can let ‘er rip.
