Black history month

A black Indian girl. Who knew?

It’s Black History Month in the United Kingdom, but not in the United States and Canada where Black History Month is February, so black history is celebrated not once but twice! How wonderful!

Intelligent people wonder, however, why there is no White History Month, a Brown History Month or an Asian History Month. Where’s the equality, the diversity, the fairness?

It’s because blacks were slaves, you dunce, and merit special attention. But wait! All races have been slaves and all points of the globe have been involved in slavery, up to this very day.

The brilliant Simon Webb, who is an Englishman, has been “celebrating” black history this month with a long series of his perceptive videos regarding the topic.

Here he addresses the current state of descendants of black slaves who were shipped to India. The cutie in the video is one of them. Is Black History Month celebrated in India? Do Indian blacks want reparation cash? Are they disgruntled? Is there an Indian branch of BLM?

None of the above.

They are simply living their lives as other Indians do.

“White Europeans and Americans must somehow be encouraging the victim mentality.”

— Simon Webb

Those sleazy Republicans

I WAS BORN a Democrat. My parents were politically obsessed Democrats. My sister is one. My daughter is one. Both my ex-wives are Democrats. My grandparents, on both sides, were Democrats too. I was swimming in a Democrat Sea.

I was content with that. It made sense. Until …

I jumped the fence in 2007, but it had been brewing for years due to two things: First, the ballooning effects of Political Correctness back to the early 1990s. Political Correctness is a cultural cancer, the love child of Democrats, not Republicans. Second, the election of Barry Obama, but it was one element of his campaign that kicked me in the teeth.

That element was Rev. Jeremiah Wright and the revelation early in Barry’s 2007 campaign that Barry and Michelle had spent years sitting in a front-row pew of Wright’s anti-American, race-hate church. When Wright’s famous “God damn America” videos came to light early in the campaign, the action was swift and Draconian. Wright disappeared or, perhaps more accurately, was disappeared. Remember that?

It was my “Ah-Ha!” moment.

It was akin to those Stalin photos where political opponents were eliminated from the crowd. Wright was eliminated. And Americans, full of self-righteousness, elected their “first black president,” proving forever that racism was not in their hearts.

Except Obama is not black. He is biracial, as much white as black.

But that’s another, related, issue. America continues to delude itself. The nation still has to elect its first black president. Maybe one day. Likely be a Republican.

For the first time in my life I would have voted Republican. John McCain and Sarah Palin. Alas, some glitch in the absentee voting process kept me from voting that year. I was totally on board with McCain but in doubt about Palin. That has totally reversed. McCain turned out to be a vindictive turncoat, and Palin is a joy to behold.

Love that gal.

Like most Democrats I was largely ignorant of the two parties’ history. I was a newspaper guy! How did that happen? Because I was a newspaper guy. That’s how. The media have been inbred leftists for a long, long time.

And I was one.

But Democrats were the party of slavery, the Klan, Jim Crow, voter suppression and school segregation. Republicans were the party of emancipation, equal rights, school integration and the death of Jim Crow. Republicans today are about liberty and individualism. Democrats are about victimization and heavy-handed government.

Here are two five-minute videos from the great YouTube channel PragerU. The woman speaking is Carol Swain, a Vanderbilt University professor of political science and law. I know you leftists won’t watch because they are “inconvenient truths,” but you conservatives will enjoy them very much. Feel good about yourselves.

National self-flagellation

whipTHERE’S BEEN a move afoot in the United States by leftist citizens for decades now to paint the nation as a bad boy.

This is silly.

Let’s look at just two elements.

First, The slavery thing and the issue of reparations. I’d wager than 98 percent of American blacks think only blacks have been slaves. Probably 88 percent of whites think the same.

This is egregious ignorance. Slavery has existed through most of human history, and it has existed in most corners of the world. And it still exists today, primarily in Mohammedan areas, especially North Africa.

Slavery existed in ancient Rome, both the Republic and the Empire, and most of those slaves were white because they were captured in what is now modern Europe.

I’m considering a class-action suit against Rome because I want reparations for what was done to my white ancestors. I feel aggrieved and disrespected. Would you like to join me in the effort? Get in touch. Maybe we can really score.

Second, the conquest thing. Few have suggested reparations for American Indians. Pocahontas Warren has, but she would, wouldn’t she? But we’re supposed to feel guilty because for what the United States did to the tribes, which was nasty, I admit.

But perfectly normal.

Again, if you think conquest of other people, both near and far, is something the conquerors’ descendants should be losing sleep over, you are not only ignorant of history but of human nature to boot. This is what we do, what we’ve always done.

If you’ve never been enslaved or even conquered, count yourself lucky because that’s the way the world works, and it’s what strong people do to weaker ones.

As for the United States, it’s done much more good than bad. Focus on that.

America is far better than average. Pretty nice folks.

(Note: A previous post, Nincompoopery about slavery, from 20 months ago, touched on the slavery misunderstanding but not the issue of conquest. FYI.)
